This won't be the last time this happens in the Bible, but I'm surprised a Pharaoh could come to power who had never heard Joseph's story. You'd think the story of a Hebrew servant who became the second most powerful man in Egypt and who saved the land from starvation would be told over and over. I wonder if later generations didn't want to admit that an outsider saved them, so they just pretended it didn't happen. It certainly isn't the only time someone "undesirable" has been erased from history.
